  • Every solid metal good. Whether brass, copper, or silver, each metal shifts in tone and depth over time, developing a finish that reflects years of honest use. Each piece only improves with time.

  • Consistent handling is usually enough to keep vegetable-tanned leather naturally conditioned. If you'd like to treat your piece, a small amount of natural leather balm — we recommend Smith's Leather Balm — applied sparingly with a soft cloth will nourish the hide without altering its natural aging process. Less is more. Avoid harsh chemicals, prolonged water exposure, and storing in direct sunlight.

    For metal hardware, a soft dry cloth is all that's needed to remove surface oils. If you prefer to restore the original finish, a small amount of appropriate metal polish applied carefully around the leather will do the job.
